Question of the Week 5

As the Republican primaries continue forward, it has become obvious, as it was from the beginning in my opinion, that only one candidate has the ability to beat Obama and, for that reason, will become the Republican candidate in the upcoming election. That person is Mitt Romney. Already Romney has won both the Massachusetts and the Iowa primaries and with the momentum and the money he has gained from both victories he is in a great position to continue to succeed. Although it may seem less clear now as the dust settles and more candidates drop out I feel that Mitt Romney will become the clear leader. Now there is the possibility that when all the other candidates drop out and only Mitt Romney and another candidate remain that all the support that was given to the other candidates will turn against Romney, but I feel that as time goes on Republican voters will realize that the only chance they have at beating Obama is to side with Romney. If this does not occur we could see a potential clash between moderate Republicans and radical Tea Party Republicans. Yes Romney seems to be the Republicans perfect match that they don't even want, because he's not as socially radical as Santorum, not as liberal as Huntsman, not as radical as Ron Paul, more electable than Newt Gingrich, and not as dead in the water as Rick Perry. He's right in the middle of the Republican spectrum and a great go to for independent voters. In the end I believe Republican voters are going to have to accept that getting the independent vote and beating Obama is more important than whose running for office, because everyone else running doesn't seem to have a chance.
